Commandos is the designation given to an elite force that is part of the Portuguese Army , which is highly trained and qualified to operate in rapid special missions under circumstances and environments that are inappropriate or contraindicated for the use of other elements of the regular forces, being able to carry out a wide variety of missions and tasks, tactical or strategic. 

Among the missions carried out by a commando troop are counter-guerrilla operations, in addition to direct actions that require high shock power.
